Dale Shearer’s versatility prevented him from calling one position his own at Origin level
IF DALE Shearer is going to make the starting team for Queensland’s greatest State of Origin side, it’s going to be on the wing.
The trouble with having the versatility to have started for Queensland in four different positions, as well as played five games of the bench, is that it prevented Shearer from calling one position his own at Origin level.
In The Courier-Mail’s contest for readers to select their greatest Maroons Origin side to mark the 100th game on May 28, Shearer is one of nine players nominated for possible selection as a winger.
Of those players, three are also eligible for selection at fullback: Shearer (26 games), Billy Slater (22) and Darius Boyd (17).
