THE KING OF QUEENSLAND GIVES XXXX THE ROYAL APPROVAL

Royal fever is set to sweep through Queensland once more, as ‘The King’ of Queensland launches this year’s ‘XXXX Maroons Edition’ beer available state-wide from today and throughout the 2014 Origin series.

In preparation of rugby league’s fiercest battle and to mark XXXX’s 24th year of sponsorship of the Queensland State of Origin team, XXXX Maroons legend and ‘The King’ of Queensland, Wally Lewis has bestowed the special edition of XXXX with his royal seal of approval, which adorns cartons, cans and bottles of XXXX Bitter and XXXX GOLD in Queensland.

Damien Mori, XXXX Regional Director said, “Origin is a special time of year, when Queenslanders across the state unite to loudly cheer on the mighty XXXX Maroons. This year, for such an important occasion, we’ve given our favourite beers the royal touch, bestowed by the greatest Maroon to ever take the field – ‘The King’, Wally Lewis.

“Much like Billy Moore’s passionate blessing of each and every bottle last year, Wally’s ‘royal’ seal of approval will give fans something extra special when they come together to watch each Origin game in 2014.

Representing Queensland at Origin on 31 occasions, 30 of those as team captain, Wally Lewis is a true icon of both Queensland and rugby league. His exceptional playing career has been recognised by his induction into the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame, as the sixth ‘Immortal’ and his selection as captain of the Queensland Rugby League’s Team of the Century.

The ‘XXXX Maroons Edition’ cartons, cans and bottles of XXXX Bitter and XXXX GOLD bearing ‘King Wally’s’ royal seal will be available in major liquor outlets across Queensland from early May, and throughout this year’s Origin series while stocks last.
