Pearce arrested, Queenslanders Nervous

Queensland Fans will be nervous with Mitchell Pearce arrested overnight after an incident with Police in Kings Cross in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The NRL Integrity Unit is investigating the matter with more information to come out about what actually transpired.  What has Queenslanders nervous is the precedent set by Blues management last year standing down James Tamou and Blake Ferguson after they had run ins with the law.

What has Queenslanders nervous is if Pearce is stood down they may pick a half-back with a strong kicking game.

For a number of years now Maroons fans have cheered when the NSW team announcements have been made with Pearce being named at number 7.  It is widely talked about at pubs and barbecues throughout the Sunshine State that Peace has been one of the Maroons best with some even calling for a Pearce statue at Suncorp Stadium be erected next to Wally Lewis, Arthur Beetson and Darren Lockyer.  Its been his kicking game that has the banana benders relaxed with the key play-maker below his normal standard at NRL level with his long and short kicks.

Time will tell whether Pearce was in the wrong or not however the Blues half spot is looking shaky in a season when it has probably looked the firmest it has in recent years.  For NSW they will quickly be looking at who is in form at half-back amongst the other sides with South Sydney’s Adam Reynolds not apply the pressure he has in recent seasons.

Laurie Daley will name the Blues side in 10 days.
